Want to sharpen your science communication skills and learn how to tell compelling stories in new ways? Come join us in Southern California for an intimate weekend of workshops, networking, and socializing!

The first ever #SciCommCamp was so successful that we decided to do it again! Join us November 18-20, 2016 in Malibu, CA for the second annual #SciCommCamp.

#SciCommCamp offers a low-cost, west coast-based camp-style retreat intended to bring both science communicators and scientists together for a weekend of networking and training. By spending time together outside of a typical academic or conference-style setting, we hope participants will be inspired to think about science communication in fresh and exciting ways.

See what some of last year’s participants had to say:

“Seeing what other people do, and how they do it, was invaluable.”

“The workshop was so accessible and practical I immediately put some of the things I learned into practice. I am not a scientist but I prep scientists for working with the media — and just a week after SciCommCamp I was able to use some of the advice [I learned] to coach one of my faculty members for a radio interview.”

“I felt like the retreat gave me the chance to interact with people from a wide variety of disciplines and levels of experience. It left me thinking very critically about my own SciComm motivations and goals.”

“I liked that it was a more laid back, informal atmosphere, while still providing a great space to talk about all kinds of serious and important issues in SciComm.”
