SciCommCamp is dedicated to providing a safe, hospitable, and productive environment for everyone present, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, physical appearance, or gender. It’s important to remember that a community where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. Accordingly, SciCommCamp prohibits intimidating, threatening, or harassing conduct during our conference. This policy applies to speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the retreat, at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Harassment of participants will not be tolerated in any form. Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to ethnicity, religion, disability, physical appearance, gender, or sexual orientation, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant or exhibitor engages in harassing behavior, the retreat organizers will take any action they deem appropriate, ranging from a simple warning to expulsion from the retreat without a refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the retreat staff immediately (in person or by email).
We value your attendance, and want to make the retreat experience as productive and stimulating as possible.
